Dear Friends,
I am writing to all of you today to announce the closing of Woodland Dental Hygiene.
I have not been well since January; a reoccurring theme for the third year in a row!
My health has been worse this year though, as I have had pneumonia for the last 3 weeks and I have also received a breast cancer diagnosis this week past.
It is very clear to me that it is time to look after me, and since this is essentially a one-person office, I am afraid there is no in-between. I had tried to find a hygienist a few months ago that I could bring in to work-part time and mentor, but I could not find the right person. I had a few people volunteer to help me after they found out that I was ill, but I know that if I did that now, much of my energy would still be directed to my office and I don’t think that I could do that.
This has not been an easy decision, as I have been quite busy, with new patients calling every week as well as the excitement of launching an enamel regeneration program for cavities that I have waited 9 years for!
To those of you who “really” know me, you know that I have always been about healing; mouth, body – it makes no difference. If we give the body what it needs, take away what is interfering with healing and give it time, anything is possible. Now I am really going to have to put this belief to the test!
Unfortunately, I do not have the energy to help you with finding a new dental office at this time and I pray that you will understand. Additionally, if I don’t respond to an email please believe that it is not because I do not wish to, I just can’t do it right now.
I thank you for all the wonderful times that I have had with every one of you and for the many things that I have learned from “you” during our time together. I also want to thank you for the courage you all had to trust and support a new model of health care delivery; in its infancy still! It has been a privilege to be allowed to provide your preventive oral health care.
